Ciel gave sebastian a job as his butler, but ciel had bargan he wanted to do. instead of being just his butler sebastian would also be his protector (for those of you who don't know Sebastian he is a demon). Ceil control's sebastian with his eye (see my Black Butler Favourites to see his controlling eye). Ciel has a mansion all to his self because his parents are dead (i think) he has a cook, a gardener, a maid and of coarse his butler.His maid is an ex'assasan (i have no idea how to spell that). Frankly all the facts i know is coming from my ex-boyfriend sorry.
